Actor Tony Todd, best known for playing Daniel Robitaille in Candyman and William Bludworth in the Final Destination films, died at 69. His representative confirmed that Todd died at his home in Marina del Rey, California, on November 6, 2024.

What was confirmed about Tony Todd’s death?

Jeffrey Goldberg, Todd’s representative, confirmed his death to CBS News. Goldberg said Todd died peacefully at home at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. CBS reported on November 9 that the cause of death had not been disclosed at that time.

The Associated Press also reported that Goldberg confirmed Todd died at his home in the Los Angeles area.

Which roles made Tony Todd famous?

Candyman

Todd played Daniel Robitaille, the title character in the 1992 horror film Candyman, and returned to the role in the 2021 film. The character became his signature screen role.

Final Destination

In the Final Destination franchise, Todd played William Bludworth, a mysterious mortician who appears in multiple installments. The Guardian’s obituary identifies the role as another of his best-known horror parts.

Todd’s career extended beyond horror. The Associated Press named Platoon (1986) among his film credits, placing his work in a broader range of screen roles than the horror franchises for which he was most widely recognized.
