Calling it a “six-month delay” is a shorthand for the October-to-April interval. The official notice did not define the pause as exactly six months, and it did not say that the reason was to improve animation quality.
What aired during the pause?
Toei said it had prepared new weekly One Piece content for the regular broadcast schedule. The announced programming included two distinct releases:

These titles filled the schedule while regular production of new Egghead episodes was paused; they were not new weekly installments continuing the Egghead storyline.
When did the Egghead arc return?
Toei announced the specific return weekend on March 28, 2025. The schedule began with an 83-minute Egghead Arc Part-1 recap special on Saturday, April 5, followed by episode 1124 on Sunday, April 6. Toei later announced a separate production structure for 2026: up to 26 new episodes annually, arranged in two cours, with a production hiatus from January through March. Toei also announced that the Elbaph arc would start in Japan on April 5, 2026. Those later plans are distinct from the 2024 Egghead pause and do not establish why that earlier pause happened.
