Taylor Armstrong said she left the regular cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after Season 3 because she needed distance from Los Angeles, paparazzi and intrusive questions—and wanted to protect her daughter from that attention. She later said she went to Vail, Colorado, to recover and find herself again. There is no documented evidence here that a firing or casting dispute was the reason.
Why did Taylor Armstrong leave RHOBH?
Armstrong described her decision as a need for privacy and time away during an intensely difficult period in her life. In an excerpt from a 2020 Bravo Insider “Life After” interview, quoted by Monsters and Critics and Bustle, she said: “After Season 3 and all that I was going through in my life I decided I needed to take some time away from L.A. and all of the paparazzi,”

She explained that she wanted to keep her daughter from being exposed to people approaching them and asking about what had happened. Armstrong also said she went to Vail, Colorado, “to let go of what had happened and try to find myself again.” Those are her stated reasons; they do not point to a hidden production motive.
What was happening around her departure?
Armstrong’s explanation came against the backdrop of intense public attention following events involving her late husband. She later spoke publicly about her marriage and its aftermath; a 2012 Los Angeles Times profile identifies her memoir, Hiding From Reality: My Story of Love, Loss, and Finding the Courage Within. That article provides context for her public account, but it is not the source of her later explanation for leaving the show.

Did Taylor Armstrong leave the franchise completely?
No. Bravo describes her as leaving the regular RHOBH cast after Season 3 while noting later appearances in the series. So “left RHOBH” refers to her departure from the regular cast, not a permanent absence from the franchise.

Return on The Real Housewives of Orange County
Armstrong later joined The Real Housewives of Orange County as a friend for Season 17. In a 2023 Bravo interview, she compared the shows and said Beverly Hills was more dramatic than Orange County.

Departure from RHOC
On November 29, 2023, Bravo reported that Armstrong announced she was leaving RHOC after Season 17. Her public post thanked the cast and valued the friendships; it did not give a specific reason for that separate departure.

The available reporting does not establish that Armstrong was fired or that a contract or casting dispute prompted her exit. The reason she herself gave was personal: she wanted space from paparazzi and public questioning, and wanted to shield her daughter from it. Claims of a different “real reason” should not be treated as fact without reliable evidence.
