Simone Biles held up a custom diamond-set goat necklace after winning the women’s all-around final at the Paris 2024 Olympics on August 1, 2024. The pendant was a playful nod to “GOAT”—“Greatest of All Time”—and to the mixed reactions Biles said the label inspires. Teammate Jordan Chiles helped place it around her neck after the competition.
When Biles wore the necklace
Biles won the women’s all-around final in Paris on August 1, 2024. The necklace appeared in the celebration afterward, not during the competition. Chiles came down from the stands and helped put it on Biles, who then held up the goat-shaped pendant beside her medal. NBC Olympics’ report of the moment and Vogue’s same-day coverage identify the occasion and the necklace.
What the goat necklace meant to Biles
“GOAT” is shorthand for “Greatest of All Time,” while the pendant depicts an actual goat. Biles described it as a playful way to acknowledge that people have different reactions to the title. After the final, she said: “My GOAT necklace is just kind of an ode, because some people love it and some people hate it, so it’s like the best of both worlds. I was like, ‘OK, if it goes well, we’ll wear the GOAT necklace.’ I know people will go crazy over it.” NBC Olympics reported her explanation; CGTN Sports Scene also preserved it.
The symbol was celebratory, but Biles has also spoken about the strangeness of being placed in a conversation about the greatest athletes. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, she said: “But at the end of the day, it is crazy that I am in the conversation of greatest of all athletes, because I just still think I’m Simone Biles from Spring, Texas, that loves to flip.”

Who made the necklace, and what was it made of?
Calabasas-based Janet Heller Fine Jewelry made the custom piece in collaboration with Biles. The Los Angeles Times reported that the goat pendant was made of white gold and set with 546 hand-set diamonds. Heller described the piece as “a very seeable and sort of touchable representation of achievements, milestones, celebrations.”
The design was refined together: Biles and Heller discussed details including the goat’s leg length, beard, and horn angle. Heller told the Los Angeles Times that her team completed the necklace in five weeks; she said work of that kind would usually take three or four months.

Can you buy the same goat necklace?
The reported necklace was a one-off custom design, not a standard retail item. The Los Angeles Times reported that Heller declined to give a price and said it would not be duplicated. She explained: “She is the one and only,” Heller said, “so that necklace will represent the one and only as well.” The reporting establishes neither a retail price for the original nor an authorized replica listing; a generic goat pendant should not be mistaken for Biles’s custom diamond-and-white-gold piece.
