Meek said he had watched an early press screener and called the episode surreal and mind-bending. He also wrote, “After watching an early press screener of this week’s new Season 2 episode, titled Woe’s Hollow, I can confidently say: Brace yourselves.” The quotation is his preview-based opinion, not a statement from Apple or the show’s creators. Why did the episode sound unusual?
Meek highlighted that much of “Woe’s Hollow” takes place outdoors. He connected that setting to questions raised by the series’ previously described severance procedure, which divides a person’s memories between work and life outside it. That is Meek’s interpretation of the episode’s setting and the show’s premise; the article does not establish a definitive explanation of how the procedure applies in those scenes.
