Porsha Williams and Shamea Morton’s falling-out on The Real Housewives of Atlanta grew from several unresolved grievances, not one definitive incident. Their dispute involved Shamea’s belief that Porsha did not support her becoming a full-time cast member, a moment when Porsha talked over Shamea’s song, hurt over Porsha missing Shamea’s 2017 wedding, and mutual frustration about private disagreements being discussed behind each other’s backs. A season 17 confrontation in Scotland escalated the rift by bringing their mothers’ separate dispute into it.
Why are Porsha and Shamea feuding?
The conflict developed across seasons 16 and 17 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The women described events and motives differently, so the casting disagreement and their feelings about one another’s support should be understood as competing perspectives—not settled facts about what either intended.

The disagreement over Shamea joining the cast
As Bravo recounted in July 2026, Shamea believed Porsha wanted her to remain a “friend of” the show rather than become a full-time Housewife. Porsha denied opposing the casting. At the season 16 reunion, Andy Cohen confirmed Porsha’s claim that she had always wanted Shamea on the show as a Housewife. The disagreement was therefore about how each understood Porsha’s position, rather than a motive established independently.
The “Neva Had” song incident
During season 16, Shamea played her track “Neva Had” at a cast dinner. Bravo reported that Porsha talked over it and initially thought Drew Sidora was singing. Shamea said she was hurt because she expected her friend to listen and support her music: “It hurt my feelings because everything that she has done, I have been her biggest cheerleader. And I need that same energy when it comes down to things that I’m passionate about.” Shamea later said Porsha apologized and explained that she had not known it was Shamea’s song.

The wedding absence and questions of loyalty
Shamea also carried hurt over Porsha missing her 2017 wedding in Kenya. Porsha said the two had not been speaking shortly before the wedding. Shamea said she had understood Porsha was sick and had received other explanations. Bravo’s account presents this as another difference in their recollections, against a wider feeling Shamea expressed that the friendship was lopsided. She put her own approach this way: “I definitely prioritize Porsha’s feelings over mine.”
Both objected to private conflict being discussed
Bravo reported that each woman was upset that the other talked about their problems behind her back. That mutual frustration added a further trust issue to disputes about support and loyalty.

What happened between them in Scotland?
In season 17, a cast dinner in Scotland intensified the conflict. Bravo reported that the women had agreed to keep their mothers out of their disagreement, although their mothers had their own falling out over a business dispute. The subject surfaced at dinner, and Porsha and Shamea made accusations involving each other’s families. By the end of the confrontation, Bravo reported, both said they no longer wanted the other in their life.

Bravo’s July 24, 2026 account said they were still not friends. It also reported that Shamea said the drama continued on social media, but that she planned to move on after the reunion: “I agreed to move on from it at reunion and that’s what I’m planning on doing.” That is a dated account of their status and Shamea’s stated intention, not a guarantee of what happened afterward.
