No explanation from Kennedy or a family representative was reported.
What happened at the 2025 reunion?
Kerry Kennedy shared a video from the family’s annual Fourth of July gathering in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. E! News reported that dozens of family members appeared in the video and that RFK Jr. did not appear to be present. That describes what was visible in the footage; it does not establish whether he attended at another time or elsewhere at the gathering. E! News, July 6, 2025
AOL reported Kerry Kennedy’s caption, “Happy birthday Chris, Kathleen and America!” The post marked the holiday and the July 4 birthdays of Chris Kennedy and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. It did not explain RFK Jr.’s absence from the video. AOL, July 5, 2025
Why wasn’t RFK Jr. there?
The reason is unknown in the public reporting reviewed. The reports do not say whether he was invited, why he was not visible in the video, or whether he attended outside the moments shown. There is no substantiated basis to describe the absence as a family feud, political protest, or exclusion.

What the later reunion coverage adds
A July 6, 2026 report also said RFK Jr. was not spotted in a Kennedy family reunion image, but it gave no explanation. That later observation does not resolve what happened at the 2025 gathering. Yahoo News, July 6, 2026
Why Hyannis Port matters—and what it cannot tell us
Hyannis Port has a longstanding place in Kennedy family life. The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum describes how the family’s properties there developed into the compound. That history explains the setting’s significance, but it says nothing about attendance or the reason for one person’s absence at a particular gathering. John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, “Kennedys in Hyannis Port; How it happened”

Why the 2023 absence is not an explanation
Coverage of a separate July 4 gathering in 2023 also noted RFK Jr.’s absence and discussed political differences within the family. That earlier event cannot establish why he was not seen in the 2025 video. Yahoo News, 2023
