Prince Harry did not publicly confirm his reaction to the criticism of Meghan Markle’s Paris car video. In a report published October 13, 2025, Us Weekly relayed an unnamed source’s description of Harry as “hurt and upset” by the backlash. The report does not independently establish either his private feelings or the car’s exact route.
What prompted the criticism?
The controversy followed a video of Meghan riding in a car in Paris. Critics connected the location to the Pont d’Alma tunnel, where Princess Diana died in 1997. That comparison—not Meghan’s attendance at a fashion show—was the focus of the reported backlash.
Us Weekly reported that Meghan was in France for Paris Fashion Week and attended Balenciaga’s October 4, 2025 show to support creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. A spokesperson for Meghan said she had worn Piccioli’s designs over the years and that they had worked together on designs for important public occasions. That statement explains the reported reason for her show attendance; it does not establish where the car travelled.
What did the report say about Harry’s reaction?
Us Weekly said an unnamed source quoted by the Daily Mail described Harry as “hurt and upset,” “despondent” and “not surprised” by the criticism. The source also said: “Harry was left hurt and upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with. [Meghan] did not even pass close to the tunnel.” The source added: “The whole thing is a joke, but not a very funny one for Harry.”

Those are characterizations from an anonymous source, relayed by Us Weekly; they are not direct remarks from Harry. The article reported that he had not publicly commented on the controversy, and it provided no independent confirmation of his emotional state.
Was Meghan’s car near the tunnel?
The reporting does not settle the route. Critics linked the video to the Pont d’Alma tunnel, while the unnamed source quoted in the article asserted that Meghan “did not even pass close to the tunnel.” Us Weekly did not independently document the vehicle’s route, so neither the proximity claim nor the source’s denial should be treated as verified route evidence.

- Reported context: Meghan attended the Balenciaga show in Paris on October 4, 2025, and a video of her in a car drew criticism based on comparisons to the tunnel associated with Diana’s death.
- Anonymous-source account: The “hurt and upset” description and the claim that the car did not pass close to the tunnel came from an unnamed source quoted by the Daily Mail, as relayed by Us Weekly.
- Not independently established in the report: Harry’s private feelings and the car’s precise route.
- Public response: The report did not cite a public comment from Harry about the row.
The article’s fashion context includes a separate comment from Piccioli about his new chapter at Balenciaga: “This is a new moment for fashion, and you can change the rules only from the inside.” That remark concerns his work and does not corroborate the account of Harry’s reaction.
