News that she had filed for divorce was reported six days later, on February 23. That is the gap between the post and the report—not proof that she filed on February 23 or that the couple’s relationship changed in those six days.
What happened, and when?
Us Weekly reported that Williams posted the caption on Saturday, February 17, 2024, alongside a video of the couple on a boat modeled after a yellow sports car. On February 23, the Los Angeles Times reported that she had filed for divorce in Fulton County, Georgia. The six-day interval is between the post date and the date divorce news appeared; the available reporting does not establish the exact filing date.
The Los Angeles Times said the couple married in November 2022 and described their marriage as lasting 15 months at the time of its report. Their wedding included a traditional Nigerian ceremony followed by an American wedding the next day.
What did Williams mean by “ride or die”?
The post’s words conveyed affection and support, but a public caption cannot establish what Williams and Guobadia privately believed about their relationship or when circumstances between them changed. The reproduced caption also includes a joke about the boat outing. Us Weekly quoted Williams as writing: “My ride or die 🤌🏾🔥 ( And yes he thought he was gone die today 😂) #BeHisPeace ❤️🌹”

Bravo reproduced the caption with different punctuation and without the same emojis: “My ride or die (And yes he thought he was gone die today). Be His Peace.” Because the outlets’ versions differ, the wording above is attributed to Us Weekly rather than presented as independently verified from Williams’s original account.
Why did divorce news follow so soon?
The timing can make the post look surprising, but it does not show that the divorce was sudden or explain its cause. Bravo’s contemporaneous account described other affectionate public signals in the weeks around the news: Williams posted a video of the pair enjoying water activities during a Dubai vacation, said she enjoyed mornings with Simon, and shared a “Happy Wife Happy Life” post. Guobadia captioned a photo of Williams “All Mine! My Love.” Those posts document what the couple shared publicly, not their private conversations or the date their relationship changed.

At the time of Bravo’s report, the outlet noted that neither had confirmed the split as of press time. Other contemporary reports described a court filing. The filing was not the same as a finalized divorce.
What Williams later said about the relationship
In a March 2025 interview with The Breakfast Club, Williams offered a later account of the breakup. She said possible deportation was not the deal-breaker and spoke about other matters from Guobadia’s past that she said she had learned about. These are Williams’s statements about her experience, not independently established facts or court findings.

In the interview transcript, she also said, “Like I’m a ride or die. I can take them wherever you are.” She was discussing what she had said about taking the children wherever Guobadia might be. That later remark is separate from the February 2024 social-media caption and does not establish why she posted it.
