As of October 8, 2026, Rotten Tomatoes listed the series at 99% from 123 critic reviews and Season 1 at 99% from 187 critic reviews. Both pages showed a 68% audience Popcornmeter from 2,500+ ratings. The difference is a moving review count—not a contradiction, and not a 100-point grade.
Why did Pluribus have a 100% score?
Rotten Tomatoes reported a perfect Tomatometer for Pluribus in its first-reviews coverage during the show’s initial reception. A perfect percentage at that moment meant the reviews then counted by the site were classified as positive. It did not mean that every critic had declared the series flawless, or that the show had received a 100-out-of-100 quality rating.

As more reviews were added or reclassified, the aggregate changed. Rotten Tomatoes’ series and Season 1 pages each showed 99% on October 8, 2026. The 100% headline is therefore a launch-period snapshot, while 99% is the figure on those pages on the date checked.
What do the current Rotten Tomatoes figures mean?
| Rotten Tomatoes page | Tomatometer | Popcornmeter | Snapshot date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series | 99% from 123 critic reviews | 68% from 2,500+ audience ratings | October 8, 2026 |
| Season 1 | 99% from 187 critic reviews | 68% from 2,500+ audience ratings | October 8, 2026 |
The series and season pages show different critic-review totals, so a score is most useful when paired with the page and count behind it. Rotten Tomatoes percentages can change as its review pool changes; these figures are snapshots, not permanent properties of the series.

Tomatometer: the critics’ positive-review share
The Tomatometer reports the percentage of counted critic reviews that Rotten Tomatoes classifies as positive. It measures the share of positive reviews, not how strongly critics liked the show and not an average score out of 100. A 99% Tomatometer is exceptionally favorable consensus, but it still allows for reviews that are not positive.
Popcornmeter: the audience figure
The Popcornmeter is the audience measure, separate from the critic Tomatometer. The 68% shown on the two pages is not an alternate critics’ score; it reflects audience ratings. The gap between the figures makes clear why it helps to name the measure rather than say simply that “Rotten Tomatoes gave it” a particular percentage.

What critics and audiences say about Pluribus
Rotten Tomatoes’ Season 1 Critics Consensus calls the series “Genuinely original science-fiction fare from television veteran Vince Gilligan,” and says it “leads Rhea Seehorn through a brave new world with plentiful returns.” That is the basis for describing the critical response as strongly positive. “Masterpiece,” by contrast, is a subjective judgment, not an official Rotten Tomatoes designation.
The site’s audience summary is more qualified: “Sometimes falling short of its high-concept promise, Pluribus is a supremely original entry from Vince Gilligan whose trademark cinematography remains employed as part of the ensemble.” The strong critics’ figure and the lower audience figure represent different responses; neither score guarantees that an individual viewer will agree with the consensus.
