An October 24, 2024 report by The Independent attributed those remarks to an interview with The Sun. It does not establish a lengthy production shutdown or identify when or for how long filming paused.
Why did Nicole Kidman pause filming intimate scenes?
Kidman described the work as involving “an enormous amount of sharing and trust and then frustration.” She said that at times she felt, “Don’t touch me,” and did not want to continue. She likened the experience to “almost like a burnout,” because the scenes were so present for her throughout filming.

In the remarks reproduced by The Independent, Kidman also described reaching a point when she did not want to orgasm or be touched. The comments convey how the repeated intimate-scene work affected her; they do not identify an illness, injury, dispute, or other external crisis as the reason for a pause.
What is known about the filming pause?
The Independent’s report was published October 24, 2024, and attributes Kidman’s comments to an interview with The Sun. The report does not confirm the date of the interview or the specific timing and length of any pause. It also does not say that production shut down for a defined period or explain any effect on the shooting schedule.

What was Babygirl about?
Written and directed by Halina Reijn, Babygirl follows Romy, a high-powered CEO whose affair with younger intern Samuel threatens her career and family life. Kidman plays Romy, Harris Dickinson plays Samuel, and Antonio Banderas plays Romy’s husband. The Guardian reported Kidman’s description of the film at its August 30, 2024 Venice Film Festival press conference as a woman’s story about sex, desire, secrets, marriage, truth, power, and consent.

Kidman also said she trusted Reijn not to exploit her and described the cast’s care for one another as gentle and protective. At the Venice press conference, she said the experience felt “very authentic, protected and, at the same time, real.”

ANSA’s August 30, 2024 report described rehearsals and extensive conversations between Kidman and Dickinson, including video calls. It also reported that an intimacy coordinator helped participants understand what they could do and what was better avoided. Careful discussion and coordination, as reported, do not contradict Kidman’s account that repeated filming could still feel overwhelming.
