Nancy Lee Grahn said she would watch Jimmy Kimmel Live! the following week, but did not want to look at guest Carrie Underwood during the episode. She later stressed that she still loved and watched Jimmy Kimmel. The exchange drew political interpretations because Underwood had performed at Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration; Grahn’s initial post did not give that as her reason.

Was Grahn boycotting Jimmy Kimmel?
No. Grahn later clarified that her remark was not a criticism of Kimmel. TV Insider and Fox News quoted her follow-up: “I LOVE Jimmy Kimmel & watch him every night.” She said she would watch him the following week because she did not want to look at Underwood, his guest that night. Why did people connect the reaction to politics?
Commenters and subsequent coverage connected the reaction to Underwood’s performance at Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration. That provides context for the discussion, but it is not an explanation Grahn gave in the initial post reproduced by the reports.
Fox News quoted Underwood’s statement about the performance: “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event.” That statement describes her participation; by itself, it does not establish a broader political position.
