That was her explanation for the cancellation—not independently established proof of what caused sales to fall. The U.S. dates were called off shortly before the tour was due to begin in Tampa on August 9.
What was canceled?
The canceled itinerary was the U.S. leg of The Celebration Continues: The Miseducation Anniversary Tour, a co-headlining tour featuring Hill and Fugees members Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel. The planned performances drew on the Fugees’ The Score and Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. ABC News reported 18 U.S. dates, scheduled from August into September 2024; the tour was canceled shortly before its opening show in Tampa. ABC News and the Los Angeles Times covered the cancellation.

What reason did Lauryn Hill give?
In a statement posted August 7, 2024, Hill said coverage of an injury and rescheduled shows had seemingly affected North American ticket sales. The Guardian reproduced her statement: “Last year, I faced an injury that necessitated the rescheduling of some of my shows. Regrettably, some media outlets’ penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour. The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal.” The Guardian

Her wording matters: Hill said media coverage had “seemingly” affected sales. The sources reviewed do not provide ticket-sales totals or independently demonstrate that coverage caused the cancellation. The reported count of 18 dates describes the planned schedule, not attendance or sales.
Was the cancellation because of Hill’s health?
The 2024 cancellation announcement should not be described as a health-related cancellation. The Guardian reported that Hill had postponed some 2023 dates because of vocal strain and to reduce her use of prednisone, which she had taken to treat it. In her 2024 explanation for canceling the U.S. leg, Hill focused on the effect she believed media coverage had on North American ticket sales.

Were the UK and European dates canceled too?
Not according to Hill’s August 2024 statement. She said the UK and European dates were still scheduled at that time, while leaving open the possibility that North American shows could return “when these unforeseen circumstances are resolved.” That statement described plans at the time; it does not establish the eventual outcome of every date.

The canceled 2024 U.S. itinerary is distinct from later tour listings. The official Fugees site now promotes “FUGEES 30,” a celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Score. Its listing marks a September 26, 2026 New York date as past and lists Berkeley, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Seattle dates in November 2026. Tour listings can change, so check the official site for the latest schedule. An August 2026 Associated Press interview also discussed Hill and Wyclef Jean performing The Score in full at a UK festival. The Associated Press
