Contestants in Beast Games filed a proposed class-action lawsuit in California in September 2024, alleging they were treated unlawfully during production. The complaint raised claims about worker classification, pay, breaks, safety and sexual harassment. Those are allegations—not court findings—and the available reporting does not establish the case’s current status.
Who filed the lawsuit, and who was named?
Contestants who took part in the production filed the proposed class action in Los Angeles County Superior Court on September 16, 2024, according to the Los Angeles Times. The complaint named Amazon Alternative, MrB2024 and Off One’s Base. It was not a suit brought by viewers or subscribers.

The Los Angeles Times described the complaint as alleging “unreasonable, unsafe, and unlawful employment conditions.” That phrase summarizes the plaintiffs’ claims; it is not a judicial conclusion. Some details in the complaint were redacted in contemporaneous reporting, including for privacy and confidentiality reasons.
What did the contestants allege?
TIME’s September 2024 report summarized the complaint’s argument that contestants should have been treated as employees under California law, rather than classified otherwise. The plaintiffs alleged failures involving minimum wages, overtime, and meal and rest periods. They also alleged that production exerted control over contestants and that the environment involved sexual harassment.

What was Beast Games supposed to be?
Amazon’s March 18, 2024 announcement described a competition featuring 1,000 contestants and a $5 million prize. Those figures were part of Amazon’s promotional description of the planned show; they do not establish or disprove any allegation in the lawsuit.

Did the lawsuit stop the show?
No: Beast Games later premiered on Prime Video on December 19, 2024. Amazon reported that the show had 50 million viewers 25 days after its premiere and called it Prime Video’s most-watched unscripted series. Both the audience figure and the ranking are Amazon’s own reported claims, not independent measurements established here. In the same report, Amazon MGM Studios television head Vernon Sanders said: “MrBeast achieved a significant milestone for our global Prime Video customers, bringing to life the largest reality competition series ever.” That is Amazon’s promotional characterization.
Amazon also reported that the series was renewed for additional seasons. These later developments show that the show premiered and continued as a series; the cited sources do not establish whether or how the lawsuit affected production or its release.

What is the lawsuit’s current status?
The available indexed docket information records filings through June 27, 2025, but does not verify the case’s status as of October 8, 2026. On that information alone, it would be inaccurate to say the lawsuit remains pending, was settled, was dismissed or has been decided. A current court docket record is needed to establish its present procedural posture.
