Jimmy Urine, the stage name of Mindless Self Indulgence singer and songwriter James Euringer, was sued in a civil case filed in 2021. The complaint alleged that he had a sexual relationship with the plaintiff, Jane Doe 7015, when she was 15 and he was 27, and accused him of sexual battery. Those were allegations, not findings of fact. The remaining case was reported settled and closed in March 2024; the reviewed sources report no trial verdict.
Why was Jimmy Urine sued?
Jane Doe 7015 filed a civil complaint in New York Supreme Court on August 9, 2021, against Euringer, who performs as Jimmy Urine. The complaint alleged that Doe and Euringer had a sexual relationship from 1997 to 1999, beginning when she was 15 and he was 27, and asserted a claim of sexual battery. The federal court later summarized these as the plaintiff’s allegations, considered for purposes of the pleadings—not as facts established after a trial. Pitchfork reported on the filing, and the March 31, 2023 court opinion describes the complaint.
This was a civil lawsuit, not a criminal prosecution. The sources reviewed do not establish a criminal charge or conviction arising from this case.
How did the lawsuit proceed?
2021: Filing and transfer to federal court
Doe filed in state court on August 9, 2021. Elektra Entertainment Group and Warner Music Group removed the case to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on August 15, 2021, where it was docketed as 21 Civ. 6868. The amended complaint also named label-related companies and Mindless Self Indulgence producer and manager Joseph J. Galus.

2023: Claims against label defendants dismissed
On March 31, 2023, Judge John P. Cronan granted the label defendants’ motion to dismiss. The court concluded that the amended complaint did not adequately plead the elements of its aiding-and-abetting, ratification, and negligence claims against those defendants under New York law. The ruling addressed those claims against the label-related defendants; it did not decide the claim against Euringer. The opinion noted that “Neither Euringer nor Galus has appeared in this case” at that point in the proceedings.
2024: Remaining case reported settled and closed
In November 2024, ThePRP and Loudwire reported that Doe and Euringer had reached a settlement and that the case had been closed on March 28, 2024. The reporting described a March 17 letter from counsel saying the parties were executing and complying with a formal agreement, and characterized the dismissal stipulation as with prejudice. These are reported settlement and docket details, not a court determination that the complaint’s allegations were true or false.

Did the case go to trial?
The reviewed sources report no trial or verdict on Doe’s allegations against Euringer. The 2023 dismissal was limited to claims against the label-related defendants, while the remaining case was later reported settled and closed. A settlement ends a dispute without itself establishing whether the underlying allegations were proven.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Was the lawsuit settled, and what were the terms?
Yes. ThePRP and Loudwire reported in November 2024 that the remaining case had been settled and closed in March 2024. The reviewed reporting does not establish the amount of any payment or provide complete settlement terms. The settlement should not be treated as proof or disproof of the allegations.
