In a November 11, 2013 interview with Vanity Fair, Gaga said she had been asked to sing during a future spaceflight connected to a special Zero G Colony festival event. She said: “I was asked specifically to sing, so I’m going to be the first recording artist to sing in space, and I did not purchase my flight.”

That announcement established a plan, not a completed performance. It did not mean Gaga had already flown or sung in space.
What happened to SpaceShipTwo
On October 31, 2014, SpaceShipTwo broke up during a rocket-powered test flight near Koehn Dry Lake, California. The National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation identifies Scaled Composites as the vehicle’s developer and Virgin Galactic as the company planning future commercial suborbital operations.

The NTSB found that premature unlocking of the feather system and failures to account for human error were central factors in the accident. Its investigation concerned the test-flight breakup and its causes; it did not determine the status or cancellation reason of Gaga’s proposed performance.
Did the crash cause the cancellation?
