Kieran Culkin said a tequila shot with Mario Lopez left him feeling it and caused him to lose his prepared remarks as he began his acceptance speech at the 2025 Golden Globes. Culkin won the supporting actor award for A Real Pain.
What did Kieran Culkin say about the shot?
As reported by the Associated Press, Culkin opened his speech: “My wife and I did a shot of tequila with Mario Lopez — definitely feeling that, the whole speech is gone.” He attributed the missing speech to the shot; the anecdote was a brief, self-deprecating moment in his acceptance, not an endorsement of drinking.
Access Hollywood also published a video about the moment, titled “Watch Kieran Culkin Take Shot w/ Mario Lopez That Made Him Forget Golden Globes Speech.” Its description says Culkin blamed the shot after winning for A Real Pain.
What Golden Globe did Culkin win?
At the 82nd Golden Globe Awards on January 5, 2025, Culkin won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for A Real Pain. The Golden Globes’ official winners list records the result.
