Katy Perry returned from a Blue Origin spaceflight in April 2025 to a joke from Wendy’s: “Can we send her back?” Kesha later shared a selfie with a Wendy’s drink, and fans read it as a possible dig at Perry. The connection they drew was Perry’s work with Dr. Luke and Kesha’s past legal dispute with him—but Kesha has not confirmed that was her intent, and the posts do not establish a feud between the two singers.
What happened after Katy Perry’s spaceflight?
Perry was one of the passengers on Blue Origin’s April 14, 2025 flight. Contemporary news coverage described the trip as lasting 11 minutes. After the passengers returned, Wendy’s posted, “Can we send her back?” NBC News reported the fast-food chain’s joke, as did Us Weekly’s account of the online reaction.
Kesha later shared a selfie with a Wendy’s drink. Coverage reported that fans interpreted the image as a response to Wendy’s joke—and potentially as a swipe at Perry. That interpretation is speculation about the post, not a stated explanation from Kesha.
Why did fans connect Kesha’s post to Dr. Luke?
Perry worked with producer Dr. Luke, whose legal name is Lukasz Gottwald, on her 2024 album 143. Kesha’s long-running legal dispute with Gottwald was also part of the public conversation. Those facts gave online commenters a reason to read the Wendy’s selfie as more than a joke about the spaceflight, though they do not prove that Kesha intended a message about Perry or Gottwald.

In a September 2024 episode of Call Her Daddy, Perry discussed working with Gottwald. Us Weekly reported her saying: “And he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with.” It also quoted her saying: “The truth is I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that.” Us Weekly’s report attributes these remarks to that interview.
What was Kesha’s legal dispute with Dr. Luke?
Kesha accused Gottwald of sexual assault and other misconduct; he denied her allegations. The dispute settled in 2023 before trial, so the settlement was not a trial verdict establishing guilt or innocence. The Los Angeles Times reported on the settlement and noted that Perry testified that Gottwald had never raped her. Perry’s testimony should not be confused with Kesha’s allegations or treated as an accusation by Perry.

Is there really a Kesha–Katy Perry feud?
The reported posts and the online reaction do not establish a personal feud. Wendy’s made a joke about Perry’s return; Kesha posted with a Wendy’s drink; fans supplied a possible connection through the Dr. Luke context. Without a confirmation from Kesha, her reason for sharing the selfie remains unknown.
