Keith Urban’s July 2025 radio interview ended abruptly after a host asked what he thought of Nicole Kidman’s love scenes with Zac Efron in A Family Affair. But published accounts disagree about whether Urban personally ended the Zoom call. The moment drew renewed attention after the couple’s separation became public; its timing does not establish what was happening in their marriage or why they divorced.
What did the host ask Keith Urban?
During an appearance on Hayley & Max in the Morning, host Max Burford asked Urban what he thought when he saw Kidman in love scenes with “beautiful younger men like Zac Efron.” The question referred to the Netflix film A Family Affair. TheWrap reported on July 1, 2025, that the interview ended after the question; Variety Australia covered it the next day.

Variety reproduced Burford’s question as: “What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?” The interview ended abruptly soon afterward.
Did Keith Urban hang up?
The reports do not establish who disconnected the call. Variety said radio staff described the Zoom call as having disconnected. It also quoted a source attributed to People who disputed that account: “Keith did not hang up, period. He doesn’t host his Zoom interviews.” Urban’s representative had no comment to Variety.

So it is accurate to say the interview ended abruptly after the question, but not to state as settled fact that Urban hung up on the hosts. The accounts differ, and the available reporting does not resolve the disagreement.
Why did the interview return to the spotlight?
The interview took place in July 2025, before news of Kidman and Urban’s separation became public in late September. Its awkward ending attracted renewed attention after the separation news. That sequence can make the clip seem newly significant, but it is retrospective interpretation: the interview does not prove the state of the couple’s relationship at the time, explain their separation, or establish a cause of the divorce.

What is known about Kidman and Urban’s divorce?
The Associated Press reported that Kidman filed for divorce in a Nashville court on September 30, 2025, after 19 years of marriage. The filing cited “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences.” AP also reported that the couple submitted an agreed parenting plan for judicial approval, including a schedule for their two daughters. Those details describe the filing at that time; they do not supply a private explanation for the breakup.
In March 2026, El País reported that the divorce had become final in January. The outlet also relayed Kidman’s brief public comment: “I’m grateful for my family, for keeping it as it is, and for moving forward. That’s all.” She declined to say more out of respect. Her remarks did not disclose a further reason for the separation.
