Jeremy Renner said he did not want to come back after his 2023 snowplow accident, and recalled being “so pissed off” when he was revived. He was describing a personal memory in a 2025 interview with Kelly Ripa—not offering an independently established medical account of death.
What Renner said about being revived
While promoting his memoir My Next Breath, Renner discussed the experience on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast. In a May 29, 2025 report, Variety quoted him saying: “I didn’t want to come back. I remember I was brought back and I was so pissed off.”
Renner was describing what he remembers feeling after the accident. The remark does not establish that he medically died; it is his account of a frightening, life-threatening event and his experience of being revived.
How the snowplow accident happened
The accident occurred on New Year’s Day 2023 near Lake Tahoe. According to the Associated Press account of Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam’s briefing, Renner had used his Pistenbully snow groomer to help free a family member’s stuck vehicle. After he got out to speak with the family member, the snowcat began rolling. Renner was run over as he tried to get back into the driver’s seat. AP described the machine as a seven-ton vehicle.

Renner acknowledged his role in the accident, saying, “It’s my mistake, and I paid for it.”

The anger he recalled was not the only feeling he described. In the same account of the Kelly Ripa interview, Variety quoted Renner calling the experience “a great relief” and “the most exhilarating peace you could ever feel.” Those words, like his recollection of not wanting to return, describe his subjective experience; they are not evidence about what happens after death.
