In the United States, Naruto Shippuden is not generally “undubbed” on Hulu. Hulu announced the complete dubbed Season 9 on May 1, 2025, and a U.S. availability check dated August 2, 2026 lists both English and Japanese audio. If you see only Japanese, the likely causes are regional rights, the app or service you are using, a hidden audio setting, or a temporary catalog/metadata issue—not an unfinished dub.
Is Naruto Shippuden dubbed on Hulu right now?
For U.S. Hulu users, current evidence says yes. Hulu’s Naruto Shippuden listing carries the series, while Hulu’s May 2025 schedule announced “Naruto Shippuden: Complete Season 9 (DUBBED)” for May 1, 2025 (Hulu’s May 2025 schedule). JustWatch’s U.S. listing, checked August 2, 2026, also identifies Hulu streams with English and Japanese audio (JustWatch).
That does not make the dub a worldwide Hulu feature. Hulu is primarily a U.S. service, and streaming rights, audio tracks, device support and catalogs vary by country. VIZ’s streaming-partner page specifically warns that platform, territory and dubbed/subtitled availability differ (VIZ). A result that is correct for U.S. Hulu may be wrong for a viewer abroad.
Why older pages say Hulu stopped around episode 140
The English adaptation was released in stages. Historical announcements describe blocks of dubbed episodes arriving over time rather than the entire 500-episode series appearing at once. VIZ announced dubbed episodes 98–127 for streaming on Hulu and VIZ.com (VIZ announcement). Hulu later listed episodes 366–377 on November 1, 2022 (November 2022 schedule) and episodes 414–425 on November 1, 2023 (November 2023 schedule).

Those staggered releases explain why an old forum post or article might accurately describe a partial catalog at the time it was written. They do not describe the current U.S. rollout. The dub was completed; the historical problem was distribution timing and catalog delivery, not VIZ refusing to dub the remaining episodes.
Why you may see only Japanese audio
You are outside the U.S.
Hulu’s U.S. rights do not automatically apply in another country. Traveling, using a non-U.S. account or accessing an unsupported location can produce a different catalog—or no Hulu access at all. Check VIZ’s regional streaming information rather than assuming the U.S. listing applies to you.

You are using Disney+ instead of Hulu
A Disney+/Hulu bundle does not guarantee identical presentation inside Disney+. Hulu says only selected Hulu programming is available through Disney+, with additional app, device and location restrictions. Test the standalone Hulu app or Hulu.com, not only Disney+ search.
The English track is in the player menu
Hulu may present one title listing with multiple audio tracks instead of separate “dubbed” and “subbed” series cards. Start an episode and open the player’s Audio, Languages or Audio & Subtitles control. Hulu’s language guide is at Hulu Help; labels vary by device.

Your app or device is showing stale metadata
Smart TVs, consoles, phones, browsers and TV-provider interfaces can expose title and language data differently. A missing selector on one device is not proof that the track is absent from your account. Check Hulu.com in a browser and the current official Hulu app.
The catalog or rights changed temporarily
Hulu states that programming, features, devices and availability can change. If English disappeared recently, a catalog update or rights change is possible, but no public Hulu or VIZ statement identifies one secret, Naruto-specific cause. Treat this as a possibility rather than a confirmed explanation.

How to turn on the English dub
- Confirm your country. The evidence above applies to U.S. Hulu.
- Open Hulu directly. Use the Hulu app or Hulu.com title page.
- Start a specific episode. Do not rely on a search-result snippet.
- Open the player controls. Choose Audio, Languages or Audio & Subtitles, then select English if offered.
- Try another episode. One episode with incomplete metadata may not represent the whole catalog.
- Test another device or a browser. This separates an interface problem from an account or rights problem.
- Update and restart. Sign out, update the official app and clear its cache where your device permits.
- Check Hulu separately from Disney+. Bundle access does not make the two interfaces identical.
- Contact Hulu support. Provide your country, episode number, device and the audio options you see if English is still missing on U.S. Hulu.
A VPN is not a dependable fix. It can conflict with platform terms, fail location checks and cannot create streaming rights that are unavailable in your territory.

VIZ identifies Naruto Shippuden as a 500-episode series (VIZ brand page). Hulu’s May 2025 announcement of the complete dubbed Season 9 is the strongest public evidence that its planned U.S. English-dub rollout reached the end.

Hulu’s title page also displays “9 seasons available (963 episodes).” That is platform metadata and should not be read as 963 Naruto Shippuden episodes; it does not match the canonical 500-episode count. Because individual episode audio metadata is not exposed in the cited material, check the specific episode in the U.S. interface if you need absolute confirmation on a particular device.
Who controls the dub and the streaming rights?
VIZ is the North American rights-holder and distributor associated with the Naruto anime catalog, while Hulu streams titles through licensing and distribution agreements. Hulu does not claim to have produced the English dub. The existence of the dub and Hulu’s permission to stream an English track are separate questions: the former comes through the Naruto/VIZ licensing chain, and the latter depends on territory-specific rights and catalog configuration.
Legal alternatives if Hulu does not work
Regional streaming services
Use VIZ’s streaming-partner page and a reputable availability checker for your country. Third-party listings can lag behind actual catalogs, so confirm the audio language on the service’s own episode page.
Digital purchase
Stores such as Apple TV may offer seasons or episodes in some territories. Verify the exact season, language track and purchase rights at checkout; prices and listings vary by region.

Licensed Blu-ray or DVD sets can provide more stable access for collectors, but they cost more up front and may be out of print or subject to regional-format limitations. VIZ is the appropriate starting point for official release information (VIZ).
