Indy Clinton said she gave a stranger her blue NASCAR-driver T-shirt after he complimented it, then covered herself with her daughter’s baby blanket because she had no spare top in the car. The story, reported by PerthNow on 17 April 2024, is the account Clinton reportedly shared on TikTok.
Why did Indy Clinton give a stranger her shirt?
PerthNow reported that Clinton was out walking with her daughter, Bambi, after buying ice cream and while on her way to get pasta when an older man complimented her oversized blue T-shirt. The shirt, which she had bought at a vintage store, featured a NASCAR driver the man admired. PerthNow did not identify the driver or the exact shirt.
Clinton first told the man where she had found it. She then offered him the shirt on the condition that she could find another top in her car. She could not: the only covering she had was Bambi’s baby blanket, so she gave him the T-shirt and used the blanket to cover herself.
What did Clinton say about the exchange?
PerthNow quoted Clinton describing the decision as “a little bizarre” and “quite liberating.” The report also attributes to her the line: “This was truly a NASCAR driver’s biggest fan.” It said the man was delighted, while Clinton acknowledged feeling odd about giving the shirt off her back to an older stranger.
