Groovin the Moo’s organisers cancelled the 2024 regional tour on 14 February, saying ticket sales were not sufficient to deliver a festival of this kind. They said all tickets would be refunded automatically. The announcement did not give sales figures or a general refund-processing deadline.
Why was Groovin the Moo 2024 cancelled?
The festival’s stated reason was insufficient ticket sales. In its announcement, the festival said: “We are extremely disappointed to announce that the Groovin the Moo 2024 tour has been forced to cancel. Ticket sales have not been sufficient to deliver a regional festival of this kind. All tickets will be refunded automatically. Thank you to everybody who has supported the festival. We hope to be able to bring Groovin the Moo back to regional communities in the future.” ABC triple j reported the statement.
The organisers did not publish ticket totals, a break-even target or sales figures for individual cities. Australasian Leisure Management placed the cancellation amid wider economic pressures and rising festival costs, but those are industry context, not additional reasons specified in the festival’s announcement.
