Janelle Brown’s “Sister Witches” T-shirt drew fan attention after Kody Brown used the phrase for his three former wives—Janelle, Christine Brown and Meri Brown—on a September 28, 2025 episode of Sister Wives. Fans quoted in coverage read the shirt’s timing as a pointed response, but Janelle’s motive was not confirmed.
Why the “Sister Witches” shirt caught fans’ attention
Us Weekly reported on October 1, 2025, that Janelle was selling the slogan shirt through her Janelle Says shop. The timing followed Kody’s use of “sister witches” to describe Janelle, Christine and Meri in the September 28 episode. That sequence led some viewers to speculate that the shirt was a cheeky answer to his remark.
The reaction was individual, not a measured consensus among viewers. Us Weekly quoted one person saying, “I love that she said I’ll own that,” while another wrote, “I saw it and immediately thought I gotta get one!” The publication also relayed speculation that Janelle knew the episode was coming and a post characterizing the shirt as capitalizing on Kody’s insult.
What was reported about the shirt
In its October 1, 2025 report, Us Weekly said the T-shirt cost $26 and was offered in heather autumn, purple and black. It described the fabric as 52% cotton and 48% polyester, and reported that the black version was sold out that Wednesday. These are dated details, not confirmation of today’s price, colors or stock.

Was the shirt meant as a dig at Kody?
That remains unclear. The shirt’s appearance after the episode gave fans reason to interpret it as a clapback, but Us Weekly left open whether the timing was a deliberate response or part of a seasonal sale. No confirmed statement from Janelle in the cited coverage establishes her intent, so the shading reading should be treated as fan interpretation rather than fact.
Janelle Says had already leaned into tongue-in-cheek slogans
Janelle Says was reported to have launched in November 2024 with shirts built around lines associated with Kody. Monsters and Critics listed designs including “I guess I missed the Respect Memo,” “Hold On I’ll Grab My List of Things That Bug Me About You,” and “Teflon Queen No Longer Making Myself Culpable for Your S**t.” The outlet attributed the shop’s launch announcement to Janelle’s Instagram Story, quoting her: “I am excited to share something fun – kind of a tongue [in] cheek shirt shop I have been working on!”

That earlier shop context helps explain why fans might see the “Sister Witches” design as part of a running joke. It does not, by itself, confirm that this particular shirt was created in response to the episode.
