Richard Rawlings has said that Discovery’s contract restricted his ability to make his own shows and clips, and he and his interviewer described Fast N’ Loud as ending in 2020. But the available sources do not establish one definitive reason for the series’ end or confirm that Discovery abruptly canceled it. Rawlings’ explanation is his account—not an official network rationale.
What did Richard Rawlings say about why Fast N’ Loud ended?
In a later interview with Y’all Street, Rawlings said Discovery’s contract held him back because the company owned him “in all media.” He explained that, when he signed, he understood that language to cover “radio, television, newspapers, magazines.” He said he could not make his own shows or clips while under that arrangement. Rawlings also said that after getting away from Discovery he was able to pursue online and YouTube content. His account points to contract restrictions and a move toward more independent work as factors in his departure and what followed. It does not, by itself, prove that those restrictions were the sole reason the series ended.
Did Discovery cancel Fast N’ Loud?
The sources establish that Discovery announced a new season of Fast N’ Loud on March 2, 2020, with a March 30 premiere. In the later interview, host Tarek says the eight-year show “ended in 2020,” and Rawlings responds in that context. These references support 2020 as the year the show ended, but they do not identify when production stopped or document a specific cancellation decision. Discovery’s 2020 season announcement.
#1 Best Overall
Neither source provides an official Discovery explanation for the series’ end. The interview does not include the contract itself or a network statement, so it cannot confirm that Discovery unilaterally pulled the plug. There is also no substantiated ratings figure here to support claims that poor performance caused the show to end.

Rawlings said he moved toward online videos after leaving Discovery. He described those videos as showing more of the business and its problems than the tightly formatted television program. That indicates a shift in platform and presentation, not confirmation of a particular replacement TV series.
Rank #2
Fast N’ Loud followed Rawlings and his Gas Monkey Garage team as they found, bought, and restored classic cars, then prepared them for auction in Dallas. The production company’s series description outlines that premise. Rawlings said Discovery continued airing the show internationally after his departure; that is his statement in the interview, not a verified current schedule.
