September 9, 2024: Release to house arrest with conditions
A Pernambuco appellate judge converted Deolane’s preventive detention to house arrest on September 9. Contemporaneous reports said the decision took account of her eight-year-old daughter and the legal framework concerning mothers of children under 12. It was a conditional change in custody, not an unconditional release.

The reported restrictions included remaining at home, avoiding contact with other people under investigation and not speaking publicly about the case. After leaving custody, Deolane spoke to reporters and criticized the police investigation. JC quoted her as saying: “Foi uma prisão criminosa, cheia de abuso de autoridade. Eu não posso falar sobre o processo. Eu fui calada” (“It was a criminal arrest, full of abuse of authority. I can’t talk about the case. I was silenced”). September 10: Judge orders her return to preventive detention
On September 10, Judge Andréa Calado da Cruz ordered Deolane back into preventive detention. Diario de Pernambuco reported that the judge’s stated rationale was that Deolane had breached the precautionary conditions immediately after release by making public statements. The order followed her comments outside the prison.

In the decision as quoted by the newspaper, the judge wrote: “Assim, num raciocínio simples, é de se concluir que Deolane Bezerra Santos, imediatamente após a soltura descumpriu as medidas cautelares diversas da prisão impostas pelo Tribunal de Justiça de Pernambuco.” The judge’s conclusion is the court’s stated basis for the order; it should not be confused with an independently established fact or a final ruling on the underlying allegations. Reports described the return as occurring within 24 hours of her release. The established dates are September 9 and 10; the available reporting does not provide exact timestamps to calculate the interval independently.

What the 2024 investigation concerned—and what the court action did not decide
The custody decisions arose from Operation Integration, a Pernambuco investigation into suspected money laundering and illegal gambling. A 2024 report by Jornal do Commercio cited about R$3 billion in account movements between January 2019 and May 2023, according to the investigation. That figure describes reported account movements; it does not establish that Deolane personally handled that amount or that it was criminal proceeds. The report also said authorities had not detailed each suspect’s alleged role. Jornal do Commercio’s report on Operation Integration provides that context.
Preventive detention and house arrest are custody measures during a case, not findings of guilt. The September 10 order addressed the judge’s view that release conditions had been breached; it did not determine whether the money-laundering or illegal-gambling allegations were true.

September 24, 2024: A separate order released her again
The September 10 return to custody was not the end of the 2024 timeline. Agência Brasil reported that Deolane was released again on September 24 under a separate habeas corpus order and subject to precautionary measures. Deolane’s later arrest should not be folded into Operation Integration. Agência Brasil reported that she was arrested in São Paulo on May 21, 2026, under Operation Vérnix, which investigated suspected money laundering connected to the PCC. In a July 2, 2026 report, the outlet said the STJ denied a habeas corpus request and that the decision was under seal. Agência Brasil’s July 2026 report covers that separate proceeding. The available reporting does not establish her custody status on October 8, 2026.
