The creators have discussed ideas for another version of the story, but that is not a season 7 renewal or release announcement.
Was Cobra Kai canceled?
Officially, Netflix presented season 6 as the show’s final season, not as a season awaiting another installment. Netflix describes it as one 15-episode season released in three parts, with all three parts available. Its finale event launched on February 13, 2025, and Netflix identifies “Ex-Degenerate” as the series finale.

That answers the cancellation question more precisely than speculation about ratings or finances: the available official statements frame season 6 as the planned conclusion. They do not establish that a ratings decline, budget issue, or cast availability forced the show to end.
Why did Cobra Kai end after season 6?
The creators’ stated reason was creative closure. They wanted to resolve the relationships and storylines developed over the series, rather than leave the story unfinished. In a letter reproduced by Netflix Tudum, creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg wrote: “Our Day 1 goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined.”

Heald described the aim in a Television Academy interview as bringing “a conclusion and resolution to everything we have put in motion.” That supports the explanation that the show ended where its creators intended; it does not prove that business considerations played no part.
Could there be another Cobra Kai story?
Possibly, but no continuation is confirmed. In the Television Academy interview published February 21, 2025, Heald said the creators had ideas for taking the story in “another iteration.” He also said moving forward would depend on discussions with Sony and Netflix. That expresses interest and a condition for further development—not an order, production start, title, or release date.

A future project in the broader Karate Kid universe would also be distinct from Cobra Kai season 7. Sony’s official Cobra Kai page lists season 6 as streaming on Netflix and links to other franchise extensions, including a video game, store, and soundtracks. Those listings do not indicate that a seventh season is in production. Netflix availability may vary by territory and over time.

Netflix’s season 6 page lists all three parts of the final season as available. The finale explainer names “Ex-Degenerate” as the series finale; viewers who want to avoid plot details should skip finale coverage until they have watched it. Sony’s page also lists Netflix as the show’s streaming home, though that does not establish availability in every region.
