The Independent and The Daily Beast covered the age-gap discussion. The Daily Beast also described misogynistic insults directed at Baptista and argued that debate over age-gap power dynamics can turn dehumanizing in online fandom. That is the publication’s analysis, not a measured account of how widespread the insults were.
What did Scott Evans say about the backlash?
Chris Evans’s brother Scott discussed the relationship and the difficulties of dating under public scrutiny on The Viall Files podcast. The Independent quoted him saying, “It’s tough with everything…in the world, people can ruin things pretty quickly,” and, “You can only take that for so long and it makes relationships kind of hard for him.”

These comments describe his view of the pressure and hostility; they do not quantify how many people took part.

The cited coverage supports that Baptista faced criticism and hostile discourse, including age-gap arguments and insulting comments.
