In the United States, both Maleficent (2014) and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019) were listed on Disney+ in availability checks conducted July 31–August 2, 2026. If one is missing from your app, the likeliest explanations are a different regional catalog, searching for the wrong title, profile restrictions, location detection, or a temporary app or account problem—not a confirmed permanent U.S. removal.

The sequel is not officially titled “Maleficent 2.” Search its complete name, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Is Maleficent on Disney+ in the United States?
Yes, according to the latest listed checks. JustWatch’s U.S. page for Maleficent showed Disney+ availability on August 2, 2026. Its page for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil showed Disney+ availability after a July 31, 2026 check.

That is a dated catalog snapshot, not a permanent guarantee. Streaming rights and catalogs can change, so an older article saying the film is absent may simply be out of date. There is no reliable evidence in the current sources that Disney permanently removed either movie from Disney+ in the United States, and no source confirms a specific licensing dispute as the cause of a current U.S. absence.
Why you may not see it
Your country has a different Disney+ catalog
Disney+ does not offer an identical catalog worldwide. Disney’s U.S. service states that content and platform availability may vary by region. Official regional pages list Maleficent in markets including New Zealand and Romania, but those listings do not prove availability in every country. A U.S. result cannot be used as a worldwide answer.

Searching only “Maleficent” normally targets the 2014 movie. If you want the sequel, search Maleficent: Mistress of Evil exactly. The two films have separate title pages and records.
Your profile has content restrictions
A child profile, parental-control setting, or age-rating restriction can hide a title even when it remains in the service’s catalog. Test an unrestricted adult profile before concluding that Disney+ has removed the movie.

Disney+ is detecting a different location
The U.S. Disney+ page says location data is required to watch certain content. A VPN, travel connection, mobile-carrier routing, or an incorrectly detected location can therefore produce a different catalog. Disable a VPN or location-spoofing service and use Disney+ normally in the country where your subscription is registered; do not assume a VPN will provide access or comply with Disney’s terms.
The app or account is temporarily misbehaving
An outdated app, stale cache, failed search index, authentication error, or device-specific compatibility problem can prevent a title page from appearing or playback from starting. These are practical possibilities, not confirmed explanations for a particular account.

- Search for Maleficent.
- Run a second search for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

Treat that as a market-specific availability issue rather than proof that Disney removed the film everywhere. Check Disney+ in your own country and recheck close to the date you plan to watch; no reliable source establishes a universal return date or a current worldwide removal timeline.

If you are traveling, the catalog may reflect your current location rather than your home country. A title missing abroad is not necessarily missing from your home-market service.

For U.S. viewers, JustWatch listed both movies for digital rental or purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store and Fandango At Home. The pages showed a $3.99 rental signal during the late-July/early-August 2026 checks. Prices, viewing windows, resolution, subtitles and purchase terms can change, so confirm the listing before paying.

It is not accurate to say that Maleficent is universally absent from Disney+. U.S. availability checks from July 31–August 2, 2026 listed both the 2014 original and the 2019 sequel on Disney+. If you cannot find one, check the exact title, country catalog, profile restrictions, location settings and app health before assuming removal. If your country genuinely lacks the title, a digital rental, purchase or physical disc is the legitimate fallback.
