Britney Spears reportedly received a warning after smoking a cigarette aboard a charter flight from Cabo San Lucas to Los Angeles in May 2025. Reports said the crew alerted authorities, who met her after the plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport. The available coverage does not establish whether the warning was a formal citation or another kind of official caution.
What happened on the flight
ABC News reported that People had reported Spears lit a cigarette during the flight and that the crew alerted authorities. E! News also reported that authorities met her at Los Angeles International Airport and let her go with a warning, attributing its account of the incident to People.
ABC News characterized smoking aboard the plane as an action that would violate Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Neither account identifies a specific regulation or documents a formal penalty.
What Spears said afterward
In an Instagram post reproduced by ABC News, Spears apologized to people she may have offended and offered her account of the encounter with officials. She wrote, “I do so apologize to anyone I offended but the flight attendants always make sure I’m way at the back of plane anyways” and, “The flight attendant called officials because I smoked a cigarette !!!”

Was the warning a ticket or charge?
The published accounts say Spears was let go with a warning, but the available coverage does not clarify whether that meant a formal citation, a charge, or another official caution. It is therefore more accurate to describe the outcome as a reported warning than to call it a ticket, charge, or conviction.
