A 24/7 schedule is not listed by YouTube as a standalone reason Super Chat is disabled. The cause is more likely to be channel eligibility, a setting or restriction on that particular stream, or a channel notice. Check YouTube Studio to identify which applies to your channel.
1. Check whether your channel is eligible for Supers
Super Chat and Super Stickers are part of YouTube’s fan-funding features. YouTube’s eligibility guidance says creators must meet the minimum requirements for fan-funding features, be in a supported location, and accept and comply with the applicable terms and policies, including the Commerce Product Module. Open the Earn section in YouTube Studio and look for the Supers tab or card to check your channel’s status. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility guidance is the reference for the current requirements and availability.
Availability and requirements can change, so use the current Studio status and Help page rather than assuming that eligibility in another country or on another channel applies to you. The published guidance reviewed does not identify a 24/7 schedule itself as a disqualifier.
2. Check settings on the specific livestream
A channel can be eligible while Supers are unavailable on one particular stream. Review that stream’s settings and status:

- Visibility: Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on unlisted and private videos.
- Age restriction: They are unavailable on age-restricted videos.
- Audience: They are unavailable when a video is set as made for kids. That setting also turns off live chat and Super Chat.
- Chat and comments: They are unavailable if live chat or comments are turned off. YouTube states, “Super Chat and Super Stickers are also not available when live chat or comments are turned off.”
- Fundraisers: They are unavailable on YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. If a stream uses Live Chat Donations, Super Chat and Super Stickers are turned off to avoid confusion.
Compare the affected stream with an eligible stream, if you have one, and check the stream’s visibility, audience designation, live chat, comments, and fundraiser settings. The eligibility guidance explains stream-level exclusions; YouTube’s Super Chat management guidance says Supers are automatically available on eligible live streams and Premieres where live chat is turned on.
3. Review channel standing and live-stream notices
Community Guidelines strikes, a stream takedown, or a copyright match or strike can lead to live-stream restrictions. Check YouTube Studio for account notices and restrictions, and review any notices attached to the affected stream. A copyright issue or policy restriction should be resolved through the applicable YouTube process; changing unrelated stream settings will not clear an account-level restriction. YouTube’s live-streaming tips also say channels must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to go live. That condition concerns access to live streaming; it is not a complete list of Super Chat eligibility requirements. If you can go live but Supers are unavailable, continue checking channel fan-funding eligibility and the stream-specific settings rather than treating live access as proof of Super Chat eligibility.
4. Work through the checks in order
- In YouTube Studio, open Earn and check whether the Supers tab or card shows your channel as eligible.
- Confirm that your channel’s location is supported and that you have accepted and complied with the applicable fan-funding terms and policies.
- Open the affected livestream’s settings. Check that it is not private or unlisted, is not age-restricted or made for kids, and is not a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Confirm live chat and comments are enabled. Check whether Live Chat Donations are active, since they turn off Super Chat and Super Stickers.
- Review Studio notifications and stream notices for policy, copyright, takedown, or live-stream restrictions.
- If all these checks look clear but Supers remain unavailable, consult the linked YouTube Help pages and use the account-specific support options available in Studio. The public rules cannot identify the cause on an individual channel without its settings and notices.
What this means for a documentary channel
For a continuous documentary stream, do not assume that the length of the broadcast is the problem. Focus first on the channel’s Supers eligibility, then on the status and settings of the specific livestream. Also make sure you have the necessary rights for the footage, music, and other material you broadcast: a copyright match or strike can affect live-stream access. Super Chat is a YouTube fan-funding feature, not a promise that a stream can accept payments in every context; creators remain responsible for applicable laws.
