She beat Sapphira Cristál in the final lip sync after Plane Jane was eliminated from the final-three decision. The finale aired in the United States on April 19, 2024; forecasts naming a possible winner are now historical pre-finale predictions.
Who won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16?
Nymphia Wind took the crown. In the finale, the final three—Nymphia, Plane Jane, and Sapphira Cristál—performed solo numbers. Plane Jane did not advance to the final lip sync, leaving Nymphia and Sapphira to compete for the title. TVLine and Out reported Nymphia as the winner after that lip sync: TVLine’s finale report and Out’s finale report.
Who was in the final three?
- Nymphia Wind — advanced to the final lip sync and won the season.
- Sapphira Cristál — advanced to the final lip sync and finished as runner-up.
- Plane Jane — performed in the finale but was eliminated before the final lip sync.
Entertainment Weekly’s April 16, 2024 prediction preview, republished by Yahoo Entertainment, named these three finalists ahead of the finale: the pre-finale preview.
What did the pre-finale predictions say?
Before the outcome was known, prediction coverage had to weigh several close contenders rather than a clear front-runner. TVLine reported that Plane Jane and Sapphira each had four challenge wins, compared with three for Nymphia; those figures are TVLine’s reported season comparison, not an official statistic cited by the show. TVLine also reported that its reader poll was nearly even, with Sapphira ahead by one percentage point. That poll reflects the publication’s readers, not a representative measure of overall audience opinion.

The finale itself supplied the decisive evidence: after Plane Jane left the top-three decision, Nymphia won the final lip sync against Sapphira. The result shows why challenge records and audience polls can inform a forecast without determining the crown. For a contemporaneous example of the pre-finale framing, see Entertainment Weekly’s April 16 preview.
