Fátima Bosch Fernández, representing Mexico, won Miss Universe 2025 at the 74th edition of the competition in Bangkok, Thailand. The live finale took place on November 20, 2025, according to Telemundo’s parent company.
Who is Fátima Bosch?
The Miss Universe Organization’s profile names the titleholder Fátima Bosch Fernández and gives her birthplace as Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. It lists her birth date as May 19, 2000, and describes her as an animal advocate with a creative spirit, a love of nature, and pride in her state’s culture. The title “Miss Mexico” refers to the country she represented in the international competition.
After her win, Bosch described herself as “a person that changed a little bit the prototype of what is a Miss Universe and a real person that gives the heart,” and called the pageant “a platform that is strong because they have the space that women are searching to have a voice,” as quoted by the Associated Press.
What happened before the final?
The win followed a public dispute during pageant events in Bangkok. The Associated Press reported that on November 4, 2025, Thai pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil confronted Bosch over participation in promotional activities. Bosch defended herself and left the event; other contestants followed. AP later discussed that episode and allegations surrounding the competition as context for the result. What did the organization say about judging?
In a statement dated November 18, 2025, the Miss Universe Organization said the Beyond the Crown social impact selection committee was separate from the official judging panel. It rejected claims that an unauthorized or impromptu jury had been formed to select finalists and said the evaluations followed established protocols. The 74th Miss Universe competition was held in Bangkok, Thailand, with the finale on November 20, 2025. Telemundo’s parent company described Telemundo as the competition’s official Spanish-language broadcaster in the United States; that announcement does not establish current streaming availability.
