Holt McCallany as Harlan Buckley
Harlan is the Buckley patriarch. He helped build the family fishery with his father and has a history of illegal business conduct. After two heart attacks, he steps away from day-to-day control, but the worsening state of the enterprise pulls him back toward it. McCallany has described Harlan as flawed yet devoted to protecting his family.
Maria Bello as Belle Buckley
Belle is Harlan’s wife and the family member taking charge of the fishery while he is away from it. Her attempts to save the business lead her into difficult and ethically questionable decisions. Series creator Kevin Williamson characterizes Belle as a survivor.

Is Havenport a real place?
No. Havenport is a fictional coastal North Carolina town created for the series. Netflix says the drama was inspired by true events, but the Buckleys and Havenport are fictional. Filming took place around Wilmington and Southport, North Carolina; those real production locations should not be confused with the show’s setting.
What is The Waterfront about?
The series follows the Buckleys as they try to hold on to their legacy while their fishing and restaurant empire falters. Harlan’s health, Belle’s high-risk decisions, Bree’s recovery and custody battle, and Cane’s need for approval all place strain on the family. Newcomers and law enforcement add competing pressures around the business.
