Steve McMichael’s wife was Misty McMichael, also identified as Misty Davenport in his Washington Post obituary. The Chicago Bears identify their daughter as Macy. Misty represented Steve during his 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame honors and was identified as his widow after his death in April 2025.
Who was Misty McMichael?
Misty was Steve McMichael’s wife and, during his decline from ALS, his caretaker, according to The Washington Post’s April 2025 obituary. The obituary also refers to her as Misty Davenport. Public accounts cited here do not establish details such as her age, occupation, education or early life.
Steve had been married before: the obituary reports that his first marriage, to Debra Marshall, ended in divorce. Misty was his later wife, not his only spouse.
Steve and Misty’s daughter
The Chicago Bears identify Macy as Steve and Misty’s daughter. In the Hall of Fame speech he prepared with his sister, Steve thanked Misty “for giving me my beautiful daughter Macy” and told Macy, “you’ll always be my little girl.” The Bears reproduced the prepared remarks in their August 3, 2024 account of his enshrinement.

Misty represented Steve at his Hall of Fame honors
Steve was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2024. Because he could not attend in person, Misty represented him at the Hall of Fame announcement in Las Vegas on August 3, 2024. The Bears later reported that the Hall presented his gold jacket and bust at his home, with Misty and Macy there.
On September 9, 2024, Misty and Macy received Steve’s Hall of Fame ring at a ceremony at Soldier Field. The Bears’ ring-ceremony report documents their role in accepting it on his behalf.

Her public support during Steve’s illness
Steve had ALS, a progressive disease that affected his ability to communicate and move. The Washington Post obituary describes Misty as his caretaker during his ALS-related decline. In 2023, she also posted about his hospitalization for sepsis and pneumonia, according to an Associated Press report carried by NFL.com. These accounts establish specific public moments; they do not provide a fuller account of the family’s private experience.
