The Philly Specials are Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, three Philadelphia Eagles players at the time the project began. The Eagles’ account of the original album describes how the idea grew out of the players’ volunteer work at a Children’s Crisis Treatment Center toy drive during the 2021 holiday season. The Eagles’ story on the project gives the background.

What is the album’s connection to the Eagles and Philadelphia?
The holiday series began as a charitable project. The Eagles report that the first album was conceived after Kelce and teammates volunteered at a Children’s Crisis Treatment Center toy drive and was sold to raise money for the center. Kelce explained the local focus this way: “We wanted it to be a Philadelphia thing.” The Eagles also quote him describing the goal of giving the community a project to embrace, building Christmas spirit and helping kids have great holidays. Those remarks concern the original project, not a measured outcome attributable to this particular song.
A Philly Special Christmas Party was the group’s third annual holiday album, according to the Associated Press. The AP names Children’s Crisis Treatment Center and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia among organizations benefiting from the 2024 album. The AP’s holiday-album coverage describes the release as an Americana duet between Kelce and Nicks. The available reporting does not establish a donation total for the album or track.
