Discovery made budget available for significant improvements on Homestead Rescue, according to Marty Raney—but the available account does not establish who pays every expense on every rescue. Raney has not publicly disclosed a salary or per-episode fee in the sources reviewed, so online estimates of his earnings remain unverified.
Who pays for the renovations on Homestead Rescue?
In an interview with Andy Dehnart, published in 2016 and updated in 2020, Marty Raney said the program’s network, Discovery, made budget available for “significant improvements to a homestead” when he persuaded the network that particular projects were needed. That is direct evidence of Discovery funding substantial on-show improvements, but it is not a full accounting of project costs.
Raney also said Discovery wanted the team to look for materials on the property and reuse them where possible to save money. Reuse was part of the cost-conscious approach; it does not mean outside purchases or other expenses were eliminated. Read Dehnart’s interview with Marty Raney.
What the interview does—and does not—show
- Supported: Discovery made budget available for significant improvements when Raney justified the work, and the team reused available materials where possible.
- Not established: A dollar amount for a typical rescue, a complete expense ledger, or a rule covering every season and every project.
- Not established: A universal division of costs among Discovery, production company Raw Productions, homeowners, local businesses, or donors. The interview does not confirm that any of these other parties routinely pay renovation costs.
How much does Marty Raney make?
No per-episode fee, annual salary, contract terms, or compensation split among Marty, Matt, and Misty Raney is disclosed in the sources reviewed. A September 2026 secondary article likewise reports that official sources have not published a figure and that online estimates conflict. Accordingly, there is no reliable public figure here to use for Marty’s earnings. Net-worth figures and purported episode rates circulating online should be treated as unverified unless supported by a direct disclosure or authoritative documentation.
Is the Raney family’s cabin rebuild part of the show’s renovation budget?
Discovery separately documented the Raney family rebuilding a new cabin for Marty and Mollee after a fire. That page describes the family project but does not explain how it was funded. It should not be treated as evidence that the show’s project budget paid for the cabin, or that the general account of on-show budgets applies to it. What Homestead Rescue does—and what the production figures mean
Discovery describes Marty, Matt, and Misty Raney as bringing building, farming, and hunting skills to help people trying to live off-grid. Its 2026 press material also announced Homestead Rescue: Intervention, in which the Raneys respond to requests for help from homesteaders. Raney also recalled filming in 36 inches of snow on the first day and described one shoot as lasting 100 days straight in Dehnart’s interview. Those are production anecdotes, not renovation budgets or measures of his compensation.
