There is no single answer, because Ford has used several country artists in its truck advertising over the years. If you mean Ford’s 1999 “Ford Country” pickup commercial, the singer was Alan Jackson. Other documented Ford truck spots feature Toby Keith (2002), Jake Owen (2019), Clayton Anderson (2022 and 2023), and Jordan Davis (2024 campaign). The year, the song, or the truck shown on screen will tell you which one you are thinking of.
Match the commercial to the singer
The table below lists each documented Ford truck campaign with a country artist, the song credited to that artist, and the source behind the claim. Use it to find the entry that matches what you remember.
| Campaign clue | Artist and song | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| 1999 “Ford Country” pickup commercial (30 seconds) | Alan Jackson sang the jingle | Ford-Trucks.com retrospective, published 2017-05-25 |
| 2002 Ford truck ad series | Toby Keith starred in the ads and wrote an original song for them | Ford release reproduced by The Auto Channel, 2002-10-07 |
| 2019 Ford Truck Month spot, “The One and Only” | Jake Owen, “Down to the Honkytonk” (promoting 2018 F-150 models) | iSpot.tv record, published 2019-03-21 |
| 2022 Ford Truck Month spot, “You Know What to Do” | Clayton Anderson, “Get After It” | iSpot.tv record, published 2022-10-27 |
| 2023 Ford Truck Month spot, “Get After It: Work” | Clayton Anderson, “Get After It” | iSpot.tv record, published 2023-02-17 |
| 2024 Ford Truck Month campaign | Jordan Davis joined the celebrations; the specific spot and song not stated | Business Wire announcement, published 2024-02-15 |
The campaigns, one by one
1999: Alan Jackson and “Ford Country”
A 2017 retrospective on Ford-Trucks.com describes Ford tapping Alan Jackson to sing the jingle for a 30-second 1999 pickup commercial in a campaign called “Ford Country.” The article is a later automotive-press account rather than a Ford primary document, so treat the attribution as well-documented but secondhand. The article is the source to read for the original campaign context: Throwback Thursday: Alan Jackson Sings About Ford Country.
2002: Toby Keith’s truck ad series
A Ford release from October 2002, reproduced by The Auto Channel, says Toby Keith starred in a series of Ford truck ads and wrote an original song for them. The ads were introduced in connection with Monday Night Football. The release names the campaign and the premiere, so it is the most direct primary-style record among the entries in this article. 2019: Jake Owen and “Down to the Honkytonk”
An iSpot.tv record for the Ford Truck Month spot “The One and Only,” published March 21, 2019, credits Jake Owen and his song “Down to the Honkytonk.” The spot promoted 2018 F-150 models. Because iSpot records are compiled from ad listings, read this as the credit that the record gives for that spot. Ford Truck Month TV Spot, “The One and Only” Featuring Jake Owen
2022 and 2023: Clayton Anderson and “Get After It”
Two Ford Truck Month spots carry Clayton Anderson’s “Get After It” in iSpot.tv records. The first, “You Know What to Do,” was published October 27, 2022. The second, “Get After It: Work,” was published February 17, 2023. If you remember a Ford spot with that song’s chorus, one of these two is the likely match. 2024: Jordan Davis and Ford Truck Month
A Business Wire announcement dated February 15, 2024 says country artist Jordan Davis took part in Ford Truck Month celebrations as part of a Ford campaign with Music Audience Exchange. The announcement establishes the campaign link. It does not name the specific commercial or song, so do not attribute a particular track to Davis without checking the ad itself. - Note the year. Check the upload date on the video site where you saw the ad. The table above is organized by year, so a 1999, 2002, 2019, 2022, 2023, or 2024 date points to one entry directly.
- Search the lyric. If you remember a line, search it with the words “Ford commercial.” Matching a song title to the artist in the table is faster than matching a face.
- Check the truck. The 2019 spot promoted 2018 F-150 models. Match the model shown in the ad against the campaign you think it belongs to.
- Look up the ad record. iSpot.tv pages list the artist and song credit for individual spots, which is more precise than a campaign announcement.
The sources reviewed for this article run through 2024. Ford may have run later truck campaigns with country artists that are not covered here, so if your ad is newer than 2024, the lyric and iSpot.tv route is the most reliable way to confirm it.
