Taylor Frankie Paul is a Utah-based social-media creator and reality-TV personality who rose to prominence through #MomTok and Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. She was selected to lead the 22nd season of The Bachelorette, but ABC canceled the filmed season on March 19, 2026—so she is not the current or upcoming on-air Bachelorette.
Her public story includes the 2022 MomTok controversy, a divorce, three children, an on-and-off relationship with Dakota Mortensen, and evolving legal and television developments. Here is what is confirmed and what remains disputed or unannounced.
Why the “next Bachelorette” label is no longer accurate
Taylor Frankie Paul is a social-media creator and reality-TV personality who became widely known through Utah’s #MomTok community and Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. ABC did select her to lead the 22nd season of The Bachelorette, and that season was filmed—but on March 19, 2026, the network said it would not move forward with the season after a newly released video from a 2023 altercation became public. The Associated Press reported that the decision came three days before the planned premiere.
So, as of August 12, 2026, Paul should be described as the planned and filmed Bachelorette lead whose season was canceled, not as the current or upcoming on-air Bachelorette. Her television career otherwise continues through Hulu’s Mormon Wives franchise, although her participation in its fifth season has reportedly been limited and remains subject to official confirmation.

How Taylor Frankie Paul became famous
Paul first built an audience by posting lifestyle and family content with a group of Utah mothers and influencers associated with #MomTok. The name referred to a social-media community rather than a formal organization. Its creators shared videos about motherhood, marriage, faith, fashion, friendships and everyday life, presenting an often polished version of Utah family culture.
That image changed in 2022, when Paul publicly discussed what she described as a “soft swinging” arrangement involving her then-husband, Tate Paul, and other Mormon couples in their social circle. TIME’s account of the controversy summarized Paul’s description as involving emotional affairs and sexual activity short of penetrative sex. The publication also noted that several people connected to the wider group denied being swingers, so the term should be understood as Paul’s description of the arrangement—not as an uncontested label for everyone involved.
The disclosure led to public speculation, damaged friendships and a major shift in Paul’s career. What had been lifestyle content about an apparently conventional Mormon-mom life became the basis for news coverage, online debate and eventually a reality-TV series. Vanity Fair reported that Paul already had a substantial social following before the controversy, which helped make her personal story valuable to television producers.
Her role in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered on Hulu in 2024. The official Hulu series page describes it as a TV-MA reality series about Mormon and formerly Mormon social-media personalities dealing with friendship conflicts, faith, family pressure, public image and the fallout from the MomTok scandal.
Paul is one of the show’s central figures because her story connects several of those subjects. The series follows the consequences of the 2022 disclosure, her divorce, her changing friendships and her volatile, on-and-off relationship with Dakota Mortensen. The relationship has been a recurring storyline both on social media and on the show. The AP described Paul and Mortensen’s relationship as an important part of her reality-TV narrative while also reporting on the legal disputes surrounding the couple.

Hulu’s June 26, 2026 reality-TV guide lists Paul as 32, divorced and single, and a mother of three. It describes her as someone who helped make MomTok viral and who has navigated an on-again, off-again relationship with Mortensen. Those are the safest current present-tense descriptions because they come from Hulu’s own published guide; relationship status and legal circumstances can change.
Viewers who want to start or catch up on the series can watch The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives on Hulu, subject to the service’s current plan and geographic availability. Hulu’s official page lists four seasons and 40 episodes in the supplied research. That availability does not mean ABC’s canceled Bachelorette season is available to stream.
Taylor Frankie Paul’s children and family
Paul has three children. Her older children, Indy and Ocean, are associated with her former marriage to Tate Paul. Her youngest child, Ever, is associated with her relationship with Mortensen. Vanity Fair identified Mortensen as the father of Paul’s youngest child, and the AP later referred to Mortensen as the father of Paul’s two-year-old son.

Why ABC chose Taylor Frankie Paul for The Bachelorette
Paul’s selection represented a significant departure from the franchise’s traditional casting pattern. Rather than being known primarily as a contestant from another Bachelor series, she came to ABC as the established lead of a viral social-media community and a successful Hulu reality show.

ABC did not, in the supplied reporting, publish a detailed explanation of its internal casting decision. The most reasonable analysis is that Paul offered several built-in advantages: a large existing audience, immediate name recognition, a personal history viewers already knew and a storyline that could bring Hulu reality fans into the Bachelor franchise. Vanity Fair framed the casting as a move from MomTok and Hulu reality television into ABC’s long-running dating format. Those factors are analysis, not a confirmed statement of ABC’s private reasoning.
The casting also raised an obvious question: would Paul’s complicated public history be treated as a liability, a source of drama or evidence that the franchise was expanding beyond its familiar pool of leads? Before the season was canceled, the answer was left to the filmed season itself. The network ultimately did not release it.

What happened to her Bachelorette season?
Paul’s season of The Bachelorette had already been filmed when ABC canceled it. On March 19, 2026, Disney Entertainment Television said it would not move forward after a newly released video from a 2023 altercation drew renewed scrutiny. According to AP reporting, the video appeared to show Paul punching, kicking and throwing chairs at Mortensen while Paul’s young daughter watched and cried.
AP also reported that the network’s decision came amid a contemporaneous domestic-violence investigation involving Paul and Mortensen. ABC’s statement focused on the newly surfaced video and said that supporting the family was its priority.
The distinction between a network decision and a court finding matters. ABC’s cancellation established that the network would not air the filmed season under those circumstances. It did not, by itself, resolve every disputed incident in Paul and Mortensen’s relationship or establish legal responsibility for all allegations. There is no confirmed announcement in the supplied research that ABC will eventually release the shelved season.

Legal status: what has been reported
Paul’s legal situation involves multiple reports and competing accounts, so each development needs to be described narrowly.

- Earlier 2023 case: The AP reported in April 2026 that Paul had previously pleaded guilty to an assault charge arising from a 2023 incident. The report said she was serving a three-year probationary period ending in August 2026, with the felony charge potentially reduced to a misdemeanor if she satisfied the conditions.
- Later investigations: The same AP report said Paul would not face new charges in investigations involving alleged incidents in 2024 and February 2026. The report also described competing accounts from Paul and Mortensen and protective-order proceedings involving multiple alleged fights.
- Child-welfare petition: In July 2026, TMZ reported that Utah’s Division of Child and Family Services had filed a petition seeking protective supervision and a juvenile-court finding involving Paul’s three children.
The child-welfare item is a petition and agency request, not a final adjudication that the children were abused or neglected. Likewise, reports of investigations, protective orders or allegations should not be converted into a broad claim that either party was legally responsible for every disputed event. Court outcomes, if later issued, should be reported separately from claims in filings or media accounts.

Production on the show’s fifth season was paused in March 2026 amid the investigation and conflict involving Paul and Mortensen. The Los Angeles Times later reported that production would resume.
In July, TMZ and Us Weekly reported that Paul would return to film in a limited capacity. That wording is important: the reports do not amount to a complete official Hulu cast announcement or confirmation that she will appear throughout the season. Hulu’s current reality-TV guide says the franchise is continuing but does not provide a definitive Season 5 premiere date or final participation terms for Paul.
Accordingly, the most accurate current description is that Paul was reported to be returning in a limited capacity to complete Season 5. Readers should not be given an exact premiere date or told that she has a full-season role unless Hulu publishes those details.

Where is Taylor Frankie Paul now?
Paul remains best known for two connected transformations: she helped turn a Utah mother-influencer community into a national story, then became one of the main personalities in Hulu’s reality-TV adaptation of that story. ABC’s decision briefly positioned her for the largest traditional television role of her career, but the network canceled the filmed season before it aired.
Her current public position is therefore more precise than the phrase “the next Bachelorette” suggests. She is a social-media creator and a central Secret Lives of Mormon Wives personality; she was the selected lead of the 22nd Bachelorette season, but that season is not an upcoming ABC broadcast. Her reported limited involvement in Season 5 and the legal and child-welfare matters surrounding her family remain developments to follow through official announcements and carefully attributed reporting.
