Salma Hayek is married to François-Henri Pinault, a French businessman who leads the board of the luxury group Kering. He is Chairman of Kering’s Board of Directors. Some older profiles still call him Kering’s chief executive, but that is no longer his title.
Who is François-Henri Pinault?
Pinault is a French national and a graduate of HEC Paris. He has spent most of his career inside the Pinault family group, which built and later reshaped the retail and luxury holdings that became Kering. Kering’s official governance biography is the most reliable reference for his titles, and it sets out the sequence below.

Career milestones
| Period | Role or milestone | Status today |
|---|---|---|
| 1987 | Joins the Pinault group | Historical |
| Following years | Holds senior positions in operating subsidiaries | Historical |
| 2000 | Becomes deputy chief executive of PPR, the group later renamed Kering | Historical |
| 2005 | Named Chairman and Chief Executive | Historical; he no longer holds the chief executive role |
| September 15, 2025 | Becomes Chairman of Kering’s Board of Directors | Current, per Kering’s official biography |
The practical rule for reading older coverage is simple: any article that calls Pinault Kering’s CEO describes the 2005 to 2025 period, not his present position. Kering’s biography does not give a year for the first step in that sequence beyond 1987, so the table does not invent one.
When did Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault marry?
The couple’s relationship and marriage were marked by several separate events, and they are often blended together in summaries. ELLE’s July 25, 2025 profile says the two have been together since 2006. The milestones that followed are listed below in order.

- 2006: The relationship begins, according to ELLE’s profile.
- 2009 (Valentine’s Day): They marry at a courthouse in Paris. Hayek later told Glamour she did not know she was getting married that day, and that her family took her to the courthouse in what she described as an intervention, given her fear of marriage.
- Later: They celebrate with a ceremony in Venice. The sources reviewed do not give a date for this event.
- 2018: They renew their vows in Bora Bora.
How they met
Hayek has declined to tell the full story. In a 2009 interview with Town & Country, quoted by ELLE, she said: “It’s such a romantic, amazing story, but it is mine. I don’t want to vulgarize it by making it into a story to make myself interesting.” Popular accounts of a specific first meeting should be read as reported speculation rather than confirmed fact.
Public statements about the marriage
In an April 2025 anniversary post quoted by ELLE, Hayek described finding her soulmate as a blessing. That is a public statement made on social media, and it says nothing verifiable about the private state of the relationship.
Do Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault have children?
Yes. The couple has one daughter together, Valentina Paloma, born September 21, 2007, according to ELLE.
Pinault also has three other children. Mathilde and François are from his previous marriage. Augustin James is the son he had with model Linda Evangelista. The children are relevant here only as part of the family picture; none of them has a public role in the couple’s story that needs further detail.

Hayek on her husband and the marriage
In a 2023 interview with Glamour, Hayek described Pinault as supportive. She said: “I have nothing in common with her, because I married a man who is very supportive, who saw things in me that I never even saw in myself.” In the same interview she said: “I didn’t marry my husband for money.”
She also said she had not believed in marriage and was afraid of it, and that Pinault had tried for a long time to persuade her. These are Hayek’s own accounts, given in one interview. They are not independent confirmation of how the couple’s relationship works day to day.
Rank #4
Taken together, the public record establishes the identity, the corporate role, the dates of the marriage and renewal of vows, and the existence of the family. Anything beyond that is either Hayek’s own description or unconfirmed reporting.
