Who is Walker Lyons?
Lyons is a BYU tight end who previously played for USC. BYU’s 2026 football roster lists him as a junior, 6 feet 4 inches tall and 245 pounds, from Folsom, California. The roster says he appeared in 23 games across two seasons at USC, including 12 games in 2025, when he recorded 20 receptions for 223 yards and two touchdowns. It also notes that he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Norway. BYU’s 2026 roster provides these season-specific details.
How did Rylee Arnold and Walker Lyons meet?
Arnold’s account, reported by TV Insider and Cosmopolitan, began with an Uber ride driven by Lyons’s aunt. Arnold said the aunt encouraged her to follow Lyons on Instagram. Arnold later found that they had mutual connections, followed him, and received a follow back and message; she eventually accepted his invitation to go on a date. TV Insider’s account and Cosmopolitan’s coverage attribute the story to Arnold.
When did they go public?
Arnold publicly introduced Lyons as her boyfriend on Instagram in October 2024. ABC News reported that she called it a “hard launch” and quoted her saying, “Walker is the best. I am so happy.” She added that he made her feel special as she prepared to begin her Dancing with the Stars journey. ABC News reported the announcement on October 30, 2024.

What has Lyons said about their relationship?
In a March 2026 profile by Deseret News, Lyons said he and Arnold were in the same Young Single Adult ward and started spending time together. He told the paper, “We just started hanging out, and we got along really well, and we’ve been dating ever since, and it is awesome. She’s amazing. She’s a great girl.” Lyons also noted that Arnold’s father had played football for BYU. Deseret News’ profile presents these as Lyons’s own recollections.
What is known about their long-distance relationship?
September 2026 reporting described Arnold and Lyons as managing a long-distance stretch while she worked in Los Angeles on Dancing with the Stars and he attended school in Utah. Arnold told TV Insider, “We just FaceTime every single night, we keep each other updated.” That describes their arrangement at the time of the interview; it does not establish that their routine has remained unchanged.
