Thea Booysen is a South African gamer, streamer, content creator and author. She met Jimmy Donaldson, known online as MrBeast, in South Africa in 2022, became engaged on Christmas Day 2024, and was reported in July 2026 to have married him at Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. If you still see her described as his fiancée, that label is out of date.
Where their relationship stands
The most recent report on the couple’s status comes from Just Jared, published July 21, 2026, which says the wedding took place that month at Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. A second July 2026 report from the same date also describes the pair as married. Just Jared attributes the guest count of about 70 to People. Neither report includes an official marriage record or a direct statement from the couple about legal registration, so the wedding is best described as publicly reported rather than independently documented.

How they met and got engaged
The couple’s public timeline runs in the following order:
- 2022, South Africa. Booysen and Donaldson met at dinner in South Africa through a mutual friend. Donaldson was visiting the country at the time, according to the Los Angeles Times.
- Christmas Day 2024, at home. Donaldson proposed at home while their families were present.
- New Year’s Day 2025. The couple announced the engagement publicly.
- July 2026, Necker Island. Just Jared reported the wedding in the British Virgin Islands, citing People for the guest count.
Donaldson has described why he chose a private proposal. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times in January 2025, he said:

“My friends thought I would want to propose in a very public way, like some sort of spectacle at the Super Bowl or somewhere else really big like that, but I knew that I wanted it to be the opposite, to be really private and intimate,” he said.
Booysen’s own wedding plans, as quoted in the same Los Angeles Times article, were modest at that point:

“We’re not going to try and have a big, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be nice, but it’s certainly going to be intimate [with] close family and friends,” she said.
Those were pre-wedding intentions expressed in early 2025, not a description of the 2026 ceremony itself. The Los Angeles Times attributes its interview excerpts to People.
