Kris Kristofferson’s wife was Lisa Meyers. The couple married in 1983 and remained married for more than four decades, until Kristofferson died at home on Maui in September 2024 at age 88.

The 1983 wedding
United Press International reported on February 20, 1983 that Kristofferson had married Meyers in a small private ceremony in the chapel of Pepperdine University. That contemporaneous report described it as his third marriage and her second. It also described Meyers as a Los Angeles native who had recently finished law school.
Family
Obituaries describe the couple as having five children together. The Guardian’s obituary lists Meyers among Kristofferson’s survivors, along with their daughter Kelly Marie and sons Jesse, Jody, Johnny, and Blake.

Marriage until his death
The Associated Press reported that the couple had been married for the last four decades of Kristofferson’s life. He died at home on Maui in September 2024, at age 88, and Meyers was his wife at the time of his death.

The Los Angeles Times obituary quotes Meyers describing her husband’s personality:
“He’s unmanageable.”
“Even if someone tells him to have a good day, he’ll say, ‘Don’t tell me what to do,’” Meyers said.
