Who is Roger Rominger?
Public reporting identifies Roger Rominger as Karen E. Laine’s husband. Laine is a former attorney and a host of HGTV’s Good Bones alongside her daughter, Mina Starsiak Hawk, according to HGTV’s profile. The sources available establish little independently verified biographical information about Rominger beyond his reported relationship with Laine and a reported appearance on the series.
A September 2023 entertainment report says Laine began posting photos with Rominger in 2015 and referred to him as her husband in social-media posts in 2017. That account does not establish when they married, so an exact wedding date cannot be confirmed from these reports. The same article says Laine and Starsiak Hawk disclosed Rominger’s cancer diagnosis in 2017 and that Laine supported him through treatment and recovery; this is a detail reported by the outlet, not independently verified medical information. The September 2023 report also identifies Rominger’s appearance in the season 3 episode “A Backyard Barn for Karen.”
What is known about their separation?
A November 2023 report citing court records viewed by Closer says Laine and Rominger filed a joint petition for legal separation on April 26, 2022. It reports that Rominger petitioned to convert the separation into a dissolution on January 13, 2023, and that a hearing was scheduled for November 27, 2023. A scheduled hearing is not evidence of its outcome, and that report does not confirm a final decree. The report’s account of the court timeline is secondary reporting rather than the underlying court record.

What did Karen Laine say about the split?
In October 2023, Laine discussed retirement on the What’s Up Wilmington podcast. As quoted by Yahoo Entertainment, she said her “last husband” wanted to retire on a sailboat, adding that she respected and supported the idea despite getting seasick. She also said, “Now I can retire anywhere I want.” Those comments indicate a difference in retirement preferences, but they do not establish a complete explanation for the legal filings. Yahoo Entertainment’s November 2, 2023 report relays the comments.
Are Karen Laine and Roger Rominger divorced?
The sources cited here do not verify a final divorce decree or the couple’s present legal status. The reported separation and dissolution filings describe procedural milestones, not a confirmed final disposition. What is Roger Rominger’s connection to Good Bones?
The reported connection is limited: a 2023 entertainment article names Rominger as appearing in the season 3 episode “A Backyard Barn for Karen.” HGTV’s official profile establishes Laine’s role on Good Bones, but does not provide a detailed biography of Rominger.
