Why do Joey King and Steven Piet have two wedding dates?
The dates mark two separate events, not conflicting accounts of one ceremony. King has said they needed to marry legally in the United States before celebrating in Spain.
| Event | Date | Place and significance |
|---|---|---|
| Legal ceremony | August 19, 2023 | Los Angeles; their civil wedding. King has described bowling on this date as a yearly tradition. |
| Destination wedding | September 2, 2023 | La Fortaleza in Mallorca, Spain; King calls these vows their official anniversary. |
The Los Angeles celebration included family, bowling, and a party. The Mallorca wedding drew on a Great Gatsby theme with a Spanish setting. Vogue’s feature recounts King’s perspective on the venue and celebration; The Knot reports four Oscar de la Renta looks, a performance by Sabrina Carpenter, and a pool party.
