Imsha Rehman is a Pakistani TikTok creator who became the focus of a major online controversy in November 2024. Material described in early reports as a private video circulated across social-media platforms, after which Rehman deactivated her TikTok and Instagram accounts amid backlash and trolling. In a public response reported in February 2025, she said the videos were fake and had been created to defame her.
Rehman also said the episode brought death threats, disrupted her university life and made it difficult for her to face people publicly. The identity of whoever created or first distributed the material—and the final legal outcome—was not independently established in the sources reviewed.
Who is Imsha Rehman?
Imsha Rehman is identified in news coverage as a Lahore-based Pakistani social-media creator active on TikTok and Instagram. The Express Tribune reported that she had more than 200,000 TikTok followers before she deactivated the account. That was a historical figure reported during the controversy, not a verified current follower count.

Some reports also published a birth date for Rehman, but that detail was not independently corroborated through an official profile or primary record in the available research. It is therefore better to describe her by her public work as a TikTok creator than to repeat unverified personal details.
What happened to Rehman’s social-media accounts?
In November 2024, reports said that material presented online as a private video was being circulated on platforms and messaging services, including X, WhatsApp, Instagram and private groups. The circulation was followed by online abuse, trolling and speculation about Rehman.
News reports said that she deactivated her TikTok and Instagram accounts during the controversy. That wording matters: the available reporting establishes a deactivation during the incident, but it does not establish that every account was permanently closed or provide a reliable current status. Her present account activity, follower numbers and public schedule should not be guessed without a fresh check of authenticated profiles.
What did Imsha Rehman say about the videos?
In a public response covered by Pakistani news outlets in February 2025, Rehman rejected the material’s authenticity. She said the videos were fake and part of an effort to defame her.
Rehman was also reported as saying that she had received death threats and found it difficult to attend university comfortably or face people. She described the effects as extending beyond social media, affecting her education, personal safety and ordinary interactions.
She reportedly chose legal action rather than using her social-media accounts to answer the controversy directly. Rehman also criticized people who create or circulate private or fabricated material without considering the consequences for the person targeted.
Was anyone arrested?
News reports covering Rehman’s public response attributed to her a claim that the Federal Investigation Agency had apprehended or arrested a person connected with the fabricated videos. The claim should remain attributed to Rehman or to the reports quoting her.

- The original creator or distributor: The identity of the person who first made or circulated the material was not established.

Why the story is also a digital-privacy issue
Regardless of the disputed material’s authenticity, circulating alleged private or intimate content can expose a person to harassment, threats, reputational damage and further loss of control over personal information. Fabricated material can cause similar harm even when it does not depict a real event.
Pakistan’s official cybercrime and public-safety materials provide general information about online abuse, privacy and reporting options. They offer useful context, but they do not independently prove which law, agency or procedure applied to Rehman’s specific case.
If private or fabricated material is being circulated
- Do not download or redistribute it. Sharing, quoting, reposting or forwarding the material can increase the harm and may create additional legal concerns.
- Preserve evidence privately. Keep relevant URLs, usernames, dates, messages and platform notifications where safe to do so. Avoid collecting or forwarding explicit copies unnecessarily.
- Report the posts through the platform. Use the service’s privacy, harassment, impersonation or non-consensual intimate-image reporting tools, depending on the circumstances.
- Secure affected accounts. Change reused passwords, enable two-factor authentication, review active sessions and check recovery email addresses and phone numbers.
- Seek local advice. People in Pakistan can consult Pakistan’s cybercrime reporting authorities and a qualified legal adviser for current guidance. The appropriate reporting route and agency should be checked at the time of filing because institutional arrangements and procedures can change.
Anyone facing threats should also consider contacting local emergency services and a trusted person. Evidence should be preserved without putting the victim at additional risk.

The safest account of the controversy
The documented sequence is narrower than many social-media posts suggest: Rehman was a Pakistani TikTok personality; disputed material circulated in November 2024; she deactivated her TikTok and Instagram accounts amid the resulting backlash; and she later said the videos were fabricated and intended to defame her. She also described threats and serious disruption to her education and personal life.
Claims about hacking, publicity, the identity of the distributor or a completed arrest remain unresolved in the available record. Treating those claims as settled facts would turn an already harmful online controversy into further unverified amplification.
