Two outlets carried the account, each citing Dagestan authorities:
- MMA Mania, Drake Riggs, May 8, 2023: cited Dagestan’s Internal Affairs, as relayed through Red Corner MMA. It quoted the sentence “Police in Dagestan arrested him and some of his friends for violating traffic laws.” This is the outlet’s quotation of the agency’s account, not a release the outlet reviewed directly.
- PerthNow, Rachel Fenner, May 9, 2023: reported a statement from Dagestan’s Internal Affairs Ministry. It said the group blamed “wedding emotions” for their behavior.
