How Slater says they met
Slater has said he met Lopez while vacationing at Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys. Esquire’s 2020 profile gives that setting and quotes him describing his reaction: “I was smitten, gobsmacked.”
E! News, reporting in August 2019, also retold Slater’s account of an early encounter. CBS News/Associated Press reported on December 4, 2013 that a spokeswoman for Slater confirmed the wedding. The couple married on a Monday at the Coral Gables courthouse after dating for about three years. The ceremony date given in that coverage is December 2, 2013. E! News reported on August 29, 2019, citing Slater’s representative, that Lopez had given birth to a baby girl.
