ABC News reported that the couple married in Las Vegas in 1984, six weeks after they met, and that they have a daughter, Sophie, born in 1986.
Who Martin von Haselberg is
Von Haselberg is most often described as a performance artist. Midler herself uses that label when she speaks about him, in a 2014 Guardian interview. ABC News describes him more broadly, calling him an actor and a commodities trader. Those labels come from different outlets and different years, so treat them as descriptions rather than a single confirmed job history. A 1987 TIME profile associates him with the performance name Harry Kipper.

The dates below come from the reporting named in each row. Where a date is approximate or comes only from a remark by Midler, the table says so.

| 2014 | Midler says the couple will have been married 30 years “come December.” This is her own statement, not a separately verified date. | The Guardian interview |
Taken together, the reporting places the marriage at more than four decades old as of 2026, if it has continued. The most recent sources reviewed for this article date from 2014, so anything about the couple’s life after that year is not established here.
