Who is Adan Banuelos?
Adan Banuelos is a professional cutting horse rider and trainer from Texas. Cutting is an equestrian discipline in which a horse and rider separate a single cow from a herd and keep it apart. Vogue describes Banuelos as a cutting horse champion. British Vogue has also described him as the youngest Mexican cowboy inducted into the Hall of Fame; that distinction should be attributed to the publication rather than treated as independently verified here.
His equestrian career is the reason he is known beyond his relationship with Hadid. For a profile of Banuelos, the most grounded starting point is his work in the cutting-horse world, rather than unverified claims about his finances or the number of horses he trains.

Hadid told British Vogue that she met Banuelos at a local Texas horse show after moving to Texas during a difficult period. She was getting a cowboy hat fitted when she saw him enter the exhibit hall. Her account describes where they met but does not give a precise date for their first meeting.

Hadid later recalled seeing him walk in “like a gust of fresh air,” as quoted by ELLE. That recollection is about their first encounter, not an explanation of their later reported split.

What is known about the reported breakup?
ELLE’s January 2026 account attributed the split to pressures involving work, distance, differing ideas about the future, and where to live. Those explanations came from unnamed sources, not from Hadid or Banuelos in a direct joint statement, so they should be understood as reported context rather than confirmed reasons.

The later status accounts do not settle the question. TMZ reported a Texas sighting in May and characterized the pair as still together, then reported in July that Hadid was single while Banuelos apparently thought they remained a couple. The most careful description is that Banuelos has been reported as Hadid’s ex, while the available accounts of their private status are conflicting and secondhand.

On the Along For the Ride podcast in August 2024, Banuelos spoke positively about being with Hadid. Glamour reported that he said she had lived with him in his fifth-wheel trailer. His affectionate comments—including, “Man, I can’t tell you how happy I am. I can’t tell you how fortunate I am”—reflect what he said at that time; they do not establish the couple’s status after the later breakup reports.
